Current Obsessions...

Gerard Way with Red Hair. Black > Blonde but Red > Black.
iMac 27 inch. $100 saved... $2900 to go :(

Various Interior Design Books heading my way.

Band Of Brothers. Especially Damien Lewis and Scott Grimes' characters
Watched this last night... finally! LOVED IT!
We got the movie posters at work.
But it WASN'T this poster, it was a shitty Michael Cera only one :(

I'm considerably controlled with my obsessions at the moment.

Question Time

December last year I asked you who your current celebrity crush is. And since my choice of celebrity crushes changes almost as much as I change clothes, I thought I'd ask again so...

Whose your current celebrity crush/crushes?

First off (and most current) The Umbilical Brothers. If you don't know who they are, they are an Australia comedy duo, whose show can pretty much be described as Mime, with sound. They are Dave (The one with hair) & Shane (The one without hair) and they're hilarious.
I've seen them live 3 times and met them twice. The second time we saw them, they tried to pull my sister onto the stage, but she said no, and after the show they came out and straight over to us, and told us that Kaitlin (my sister) was the first one ever to say NO =D They were very impressed. Their DVDs, Speedmouse (seen the live show) and Don't Explain (haven't seen the live show) are hilarious. I own both. PS They're not really brothers & I know they're not the greatest looking blokes, but fuck are they funny and really that's all that really matters =D

MICHAEL FASSBENDER. He played Lt. Archie Hicox in Inglourious Basterds, but what has got me loving him, is the fact that he is going to be playing my favourite classic literary character of all time.... Edward Rochester from Jane Eyre. And during my search for more information about Jane Eyre I came across this, very striking, very SEXY photo of Mr. Fassbender...
I've never been a fan of facial hair, but GOD! HOT! He was born in Germany, but raised in the UK. He speaks English & German and apparently he was in 300 (I will have to rent it and see) Here's a couple more photos of Michael Fassbender... Just because...

And lastly, Sharlto Copley. You all know how excited I am to see The A Team, when it finally comes out. Even more excited about seeing it, then I currently am about going to Melbourne (4 weeks). I can't wait to see Sharlto Copley in a humorous role. In the trailer they show his character (Murdock) trying to start a car with defibrillators and getting shocked and it's hilarious.
There is something about his South African accent that just gets me. I've never been a fan of SA accents but his.... *swoon*

Anyway, now it's your turn. Either post on your blog (but let me know) or just comment here. I would love to hear from you.

Recap

sorry about the complete and utter lack of blogging. if it's any consolation I haven't been posting on my livejournal blog either. mostly just reblog on Tumblr and an occasional Tweet.

My time has been spent, mostly writing (in a real notebook with a real pen) and watching movies. As well as collecting hundreds.... or maybe even thousands of photos of Mr. Eli Roth. Yep that's right, still obsessed.... which has let on to another obsession.... Quentin Tarantino movies. I watched Death Proof for the first time a couple nights ago, and it was freaking AWESOME. I don't know how the man can be just so damn awesome. And the women he cast, not stick skinny, they are real women, with slighty flabby butts and tummys, and there legs jiggle (if only a little) but still. Quentin's women are REAL!
I also managed to get my hands on a copy of the Inglourious Basterds screenplay (wasn't that hard, because Quentin publishes all his screenplays) and it's awesome because there are scenes in the screenplay that aren't in the movie. So now I have to find some time to watch the Blu-Ray version and see if those scenes where actually made.

What else? oh. Screamworks: Love In Theory and Practice. FREAKING AWESOME! HIM have really outdone themself this time. and in less than 2 weeks time I will be in Perth watching them LIVE (again, already seen them once in 2008) But I can't freaking wait! I'm also excited about being in Perth. There are a couple of things I need that are just too hard to get down here.... like perfume @ MYERS! yay! hoping to get a bottle of Vera Wang Glam Princess to go with the other 2 I have (Vera Wang Princess and Rock Princess) I buy perfume for the pretty bottles and then the smell. =D I might buy some men's cologne too... for myself, because I love the smell. What's the one with Ewan Macgregor???? That one is awesome! I want it. I imagine that's what Ewan smells like... anyway enough fangirling =D

IN JUNE my best friend and I are going on a super geeky awesome trip! first SUPANOVA in Perth, than we fly to Melbourne for a week for the Tim Burton exhibition and just to explore. I've been to Melbourne once and loved it so much I can't wait to get back. my friend Tahlia has never been, so it's going to be awesome to have her there. I need to lose some weight before we go. after Soundwave I'm going to knuckle down and do it. Because Soundwave was the reason I was motivated last year.

Anyway, how was that for a recap? I know i'm awesome.

and i'll leave you with one sentence that reduced me to tears last night.
"I'm not as Random as you think I salad"

Inglourious Basterds

Have you seen Tarantino's new film yet?
It's his most successful, and I personally think one of his best.
Do you know what surprised me? Eli Roth. I knew he was a director of horror films that I'm too much of a baby to watch, and I didn't really think he'd do a very good job... BUT WOW! He was excellent.
So that did it... my transition from one Roth to another Roth. (TIM ROTH >>> ELI ROTH)

Even Brad Pitt (and I seriously can't stand Brad Pitt) was tolerable.

All I can say is I'm obsessed again.
I own it on Blu-Ray and ex-rental DVD
I ordered 2 posters from Australia
and just then ordered another (the one shown above) from England.
I have already decided where it's going to go.
Above my bed, so the Bear Jew can protect me from any Nazis that try and murder me in my sleep.

I'm obsessed with Eli Roth, but being a wuss, there aren't very many films I can watch.
I have rented Cabin Fever, but it just sits there staring at me.
I can't bring myself to put it in the DVD player.
I just don't do Horror. I don't know why.
I don't know if it's the gore (but I managed to watch the scalping scenes in Inglourious Basterds with no problem)
or maybe its the people jumping out at me...
I just don't know.

If you're not interested in watching Inglourious Basterds at least watch this awesome (except for the present of Miley Cyrus) YouTube video by electriceel1290 (00:50-00:58 contains ultra violence... it's the only bit in the movie that really made me cringe... just warning you)
CONTAINS SPOILERS!

yes the one with the bat is ELI ROTH
and again my apologizes for Miley Cyrus, but it just works so well =D

So that's it for today.
The next couple of weeks will be slow on posts because of my internet speed.
Should be up and running again 11 Feb (it's such a long long way away )'= )

04 January 2010

just a short introduction 2.0

If you haven't noticed, I've deleted the 2 most recent posts. Mainly because they were both stupid and worthless =D So now a real post. On January 1st it was the 2 year anniversary of this blog. It's had many different faces, it started out as Cupcakes & Mustangs and then early last year it was Eclectic Geekery, and now the more vague and elusive title of The Importance Of Getting Lost. I don't know if I'm the only one that changes her blog title (and URL) so often, (It will probably change even more in the future) Does anyone else change theirs?

My first post was an introduction, it is pretty much what I'm like now, but with a couple of changes (like age =P) I've decided to re-introduce myself to all my new followers who probably haven't gone back in the achieve that far =D

Howdy, I'm Melissa. I'm 23 and live in Western Australia. I still live at home with my parents, but that's because it's too expensive to move out, especially if I don't have anyone to share with because I'm sad and only have online friends =D I drive a Honda Jazz. He's purple and named Stanley (<-- he even has his own blog label) I used to dress like an Emo, but I've never been overly Emo. I actually think I'm more Emo now, even though I no longer dress Emo =D I'm a GEEK. 138% Geek. Mostly film/tv and music geek, but it's more a mixture of everything. I work at Blockbuster, have done for almost 2 years. I'm the girl you need if you need to know what "that movie was called staring that guy who was in that other movie with that other guy" is. I usually get it, even if I haven't seen the movie. I don't know how I hold all this information about movies and tv without my brain exploding, but I do. I don't get addicted to things, but I do become obsessed. Most recent obsessions include, Billy Talent (band), Tim Roth (actor), The Sims 3 and so on.... If you go back over my blogs you can usually figure out who I'm obsessed with for that week.
My Favourite Actor is Karl Urban, hence the fact he has his own label too. I've met him. He was awesome and smelt very nice =D
My favourite bands are: Muse, Him, Billy Talent, The Used, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, The Rasmus, 30 Seconds to Mars.... the list goes on and one. I suggest (if you're interested) check out my Last.FM, because it's pretty much running 24/7.
I could go on for days about the stuff I love, but one thing that everyone knows about me, is I have a short attention span. So about now, I'm starting to get bored of writing. So I'm going to post some photos =D

New Blogger Sidebar

I've added some new content to my Blogger sidebar. A wishlist, my twitter updates, my LastFM music and a few other things.

The walls of my sisters room are almost completely gone now.
My dad has been walking around with a dust mask on all day, when he breathes he sounds like Darth Vader. I tried to get him to say "Luke, I am your father" but he couldn't, he kept laughing. My dad is such a Nerd.

Star Trek is out on DVD on October 28th. I'm so excited, and love the movie so much I'm going to buy the 2 Disc Limited Edition DVD, and the 3 Disc Limited Edition Blu-ray copies of it. YAY so excited. It's seriously the best movie of this year. (Geek Alert!)

Tomorrow is my beautiful baby cousins Baptism. I'm trying to decide if it will be okay for me to wear my heartagram necklace to the church. Hmmm.... I don't know. The top I'm wearing won't hide it, but I wear my heartagram necklace everyday, every time I leave the house, for the last 5 years.... so it will be weird if I don't have it on. I'll decide tomorrow, while I'm standing at the doors of the church. =D

I deactivated my facebook account this morning. I don't even know why I still have a facebook, It's such a waste of time, and more of a hassel than anything. So I apoligise to everyone whose friends with me on facebook. Sorry =(

She's Ginger! YAY!

I'm liking Doctor Who (11)'s new companion.

her name is Karen Gillian. She was actually in an episode of Doctor Who with David Tennant. (The Fires Of Pompeii) But now she gets to be a full time companion to Matt Smith's Doctor.

And the best thing about her. She has red her (or she's Ginger as the Doctor would say (and I bet you he will!))

Not sure of the companions actual name yet. But I'm looking forward to the new series. even without David Tennant.

Ho Hum!

crazy zachary

listening to Zachary Quinto talking.... mmmmmm! goodness

feeling slighty angry about getting email from ebay seller, saying that So Notorious will be delayed up to 5 weeks.... 5 freaking weeks!!!!

but ZQ makes me feel happier!

So NoTORIous

I just bought So NoTORIous off ebay. It's a "reality" tv series featuring Tori Spelling.
I think you're wondering why...

well let me explain.... through a couple of images....

like this one...

is that Zachary Quinto? Why yes it is.....

If that doesn't convince you why i NEED this series.... maybe these images might...

Image 1

Image 2

*girly squee*

Okay you can stop hyperventilating now...

Are those images (in particular Image 2) proof enough? I think so!

geek out!

All about ZQ

I found the most awesome Behind The Scenes Star Trek picspam.
Just finished Season 1 of Heroes. I start season 2 tonight. It's kinda sad because there is only 4 discs in season 2. which means it will be over quicker. and there is still no date on season 3 =(
I'll have to find another way to get my ZQ fix.

ps. added a star trek tag =D

Curves & Crossovers

Went into Curves (the gym) to ask about prices to sign up and the women started signing me up, but I didn't realise this until she asked me how I was paying. WTF! She then got snotty with me and made me an appointment to come in on Monday to finish sign up. WTF! I'm so not going =D
She was a skinny prissy gym junkie!!!

GRRRR! It made me kinda angry. But then I laughed at her stupidity and lack of listening skills.

She took my blood pressure (yeah WTF right?) and I don't have high blood pressure. I know I can't really go on what some skinny bitch at Curves says, but it's not high high! YAY!

I had a star trek dream last night! HAHA, about Spock.... who wasn't really Spock it was actually Sylar (from Heroes) in disguise. And then something with Hiro and Captain Kirk. It was a Star Trek/Heroes crossover dream. I can't really remember much. I never remember my dreams.
And I have deju vu dreams. Dreams I remember having before. How weird is that?

I can't wait for pay day. I have Heroes season 1 & 2 put aside at work for me for only $49.95 each. I really want to watch them. I'm having a Zachary Quinto obsession =D

Anyway better get to bed. I have work again tomorrow. Can't wait until Saturday. My day off. First Saturday off in a long time.

My New Obsession - The Dudesons!

so far today, i've found images of Jukka, imported them into polyvore, made a set (see below) and searched livejournal for dudeson slash (wasn't very successful)

i have an awesome idea for slash involving jukka, jarno, a cupboard and a video camera... haha but you'll have to wait til i write it! (which will probably never happen!!)

i set up a photobucket account, which has some of the dudeson images in it (and some others... be warned... one particular image is well... funny... but full on! HAHA)

Apparently there were Australian Idol Audition in Albany today. HA! Apparently no one from Albany got in. HA!

You should see my hair today... OMG Awesomeness! I kinda have the urge to dye all my hair blonde now =D

I'm actually starting to run out of things to blog about. I need to get inspired.

I started a community on LiveJournal called girly_squee. I think it's going to be a slash fanfiction community, but I don't know... anything that induces Girly Squee moments will do =D

!!!I NEED INSPIRATION!!!

I can't keep writing about how I don't want to go back to TAFE... knowing how unlucky I am, someone I go to TAFE with probably reads this, and has informed the lecturer on my thoughts...

What Inspires Me:
Manga, Coloured Pencils & Pens, Sunsets, Fireworks, Thunderstorms, Fanfiction, "Invincible" by Muse, Clouds, Stars...

Things I Love Thursday #3 - 1 May 2008

It's a new month... woohoo!

The Big Bang Theory - The funniest show I've seen in awhile... It's about these geeks who live nextdoor to a beautiful stupid girl... HAHAHA I'm so excited... one of my work collegues is going to get me the whole first season so I can watch. YAY!

My New Hair - Mostly the large chunk of blonde =D

Nestle Milkybars - White Chocolate at it's best. Nestle Milkybars... OMG Yummo!

Livejoural Layouts - I think I've mastered it... thanks to vands88! I may even be able to create my own headers. We'll see.
