Things I Love Thursday

the official partners of Yogscast Zoey, Rythian and Nilesy.
I want all the merch! I especially wanted the signed Rythian art print!
It's freaking amazing! And it was of £30 with free shipping.
But there was only 50 and they sold out :(

Somewhere where no one will judge you.

There are so many good movies out this year.
Including STAR TREK! Ironman 3, Elysium, Oblivion plus a million more, including this.....
Never been a big fan of Superman
but I'm a huge huge fan of Zack Snyder and Christopher Nolan.
This movie will be amazeballs.
I hope this means they will start to develop the DC comic world into films.

Super excited about International Geek Girl Pen Pals Club
I've been planning awesome letter ideas
and looking at awesome stationery
I've also joined a few blogs and other communities including a Harry Potter role-play
I've never done role-playing online before.
I'm not sure how it works etc.
But it should be fun :D

Star Trek TOS Cross Stitch

Star Trek iotacons by Andy Rash

... and I knew I needed it. I followed the links and found Andy Rash's iotacons blog. FULL of other awesome and geeky iotacons. I could die, It's awesome geeky cross stitch pattern overload :) There are no colours for threads, but it's not hard to figure it out for yourself.
So far I have completed, Kirk & Spock and have begun Bones. I'm thinking of having the text "Space, the final frontier" instead of "Live long and prosper"

The site is full of awesomeness, and since the last post was yesterday, hopefully there will be some more soon :) I think some Doctor Who ones are in order :)

I will update you on the progress of my cross-stitch as it becomes more awesome.

Jimmy McBride Creations

While exploring the internet for inspiration I came across the most epic quilt I have ever lay my geeky eyes on.
Its a patchwork quilt version of the Crab Nebula. The amazing man (yes man) behind it is Jimmy McBride, and as well as this one he does others, including the Pillars Of Creation, Phobos V2 (one of Mars' moons) plus more. But The Crab Nebula is my favourite. Just look at the details. And do you know what's even better about it? Most of the fabric used is old clothing and donated fabric, as well as "fabric given to me by inhabitants of the arctic rain forests of Tao'Ne and traders on a distant mining station, thread from old vacuum blankets." :) What a Nerd :)

The full quilt in all it's glory.
I would love to own it, but with a price tag of $12,000 it's a little out of reach.
Details... look at all the tartan and plaid :)
Stitching is awesome, colours are perfect.
just breath taking.

Me: I'm So Tired.... You: Why?

How awesome was the live stream of the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part Two (wow, that's a mouthful) premiere? We (as in my sister Alex & I) plugged her laptop into our HUGE TV and watched it... LIVE! It was awesome! Everyone was awesome!! I really can't wait to see the movie. I'm going to cry like a baby, but it's still going to be AWESOME!
I was excited that Helen McCrory (Mrs Malfoy) took her husband to the premiere...
Yep, thats Damian Lewis in all his sexy GINGER glory! OMG a Malfoy married a Weasley... :D You should of seen me! I stayed up all night just to see Alan Rickman... who didn't show up until 1.30am :( DAMN YOU! Lets just say I was pretty delirious at work this morning. BUT IT WAS WORTH IT TO SEE (AND HEAR) ALAN RICKMAN!!!
And of course everyone looked gorgeous, especially Helena Bonham Carter. Too bad her husband wasn't there. :)

In other news.... NEW OBSESSIONS... well actually, you can call one a "hobby" and the other a "collection"
I've started cross-stitching. I have one finished work under my belt... and it's awesome!
I told you it was awesome! :) I've just ordered a book called Makoto's Cross Stitch Super Collection, and from the awesome cover, it looks like it's gonna be freaking awesome!
Behold... ALL THE AWESOME GLORY....

and last thing... I'm wearing a green shirt and geek glasses... I WISH I HAD CRAP EYESIGHT SO I COULD WEAR THESE AT WORK!! DAMN MY PREFECT EYESIGHT!!!
Peace Out!

THAT IS ALL!

Op Shopping is cheap and fulfils my shopaholic-ness =D

Went Op-Shopping (was inspired by Cupcake185)
Look what I got. Total price $27.75
Op Shop Finds 12.04.10
Brown Leather Briefcase = $4
Houndstooth Jacket (to be used as fabric) = $8
Purple Jacket (to be used as fabric) = $3.75
Gold Military Buttons (2 types) = $4
IKEA Wooden DVD Wall Racks = $8 for both

I did good.

I'm going to turn the jackets into something. Maybe my iPad cover, but I'm not sure, I got them because I liked the fabric. And the bag! OMG I've been searching for a bag like it for ages, even tried eBay, but keep losing =( now I found one, for $4!!!! It's not exactly what I wanted, but it's still awesome. Might also be useful for my iPad.

I also bought (don't judge me) New Moon on DVD. why? because I actually want to watch it, then after I can watch it I can re-gift it on to someone... hahaha, I could of just rented it, but I didn't, so there. So bring on the Twihate from my friends =P Only watching it for Jackson Rathbone and Michael Sheen!

And also for iron ons for my bag, which is starting to look pretty spiffy =D Photos soon.

I check Apple.com.au everyday and see the same thing, "iPad available late April" one day I'm going to check it and it's going to have a release date, prices and a pretty Pre-Order button =D

Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone. Hope you're having an excellent day.
Did the Easter Bunny visit you? It visited me, well my little sister anyway. By the way, my sister is 16.
It was an Easter treasure hunt around the yard, complete with cleverly written clues "Where doves cry and passion creeps" meaning our Dove cage that is covered with passion fruit vine, plus others, but that one was the most impressive. It was fun, and yes I did get involved, a little. By the time I was out of bed and showered, she was onto the last clue.

Random things about Work.
  • as of 8.04pm last night there was 351 little chocolate eggs left in the carton.
  • 2 Journey songs are played during the Blockbuster DVD loop (Any Way You Want It in the Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs trailer, and Don't Stop Believin' in the GLEE trailer) (I secretly LOVE Journey =D)
My previously mentioned sister's room is almost done. She's been sleeping in the living room for about 6 months (because my whole family is full of procrastinators) It was painted yesterday. She is the luckiest person in the whole world, I don't know how she did it, but she convinced the parents to let her paint one WHOLE wall BLACK! and the rest of the walls, this completely awesome shade of purple.

alex's room

Has anyone seen Clash Of The Titans yet? Someone told me it was crap. "A fleeting movie full of mythological inaccuracies" yep, people are that eloquent  in this town. I love my customers.... sometimes. I really want to see it. I don't listen to people when they tell me their opinions about films, I like to make up my own mind. for example, remember the ripping The Chronicles Of Riddick got??? it's in my top 10 favourite movies of all time. That's just how awesome I am.

I'm going to try my hand at "modifying"
I have a bag, that's crappy, but I like the style, so I'm going to change it. Bleach it, Dye it, add studs and chains, just go completely crazy. I'm not overly create so this should be interesting. I'm going to chronicle the change. It might lead to something.
I've always wanted to make my own clothes, but I'm no good with a sewing machine, which is hilarious considering my dad is an Upholsterer and uses a sewing machine everyday, and is completely pro.
So here's the bag, as of right now.

bag

I brought it to go away with last September. I don't remember where I got it. But it's kinda awesome, but can be even more awesome. I'm thinking maybe some studs, and chains. I was thinking of bleaching in a different colour, but I thought it was blue, but ended up being dark grey, so I might leave it. I was thinking dripping bleach on it to get a should of wicked effect, like acid wash jeans.

IDEAS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED

I'm so excited about Melbourne in June. The Tim Burton exhibition, staying at the 4 star Mecure on Spring Street, flying Virgin Blue instead of Jetstar, being with someone that actually wants to do and see the same things as me. I wanted to go to the Melbourne Zoo to see the baby elephant, but I don't think we'll have time. But I'm going to try and convince Tahlia to go to IMAX, hopefully Alice In Wonderland will still be playing (because Star Trek was playing in October, and it was released in May)

Any Melbournites know of any Anime/Comic Book stores in Melbourne CBD, other than Minotaur??

I think that's it for today. I have to help with more painting. =D

HAPPY EASTER!

Work In Progress 27.03.10

WIP 27.03.10, originally uploaded by Princess Geek.
This is Gertrude. She's only half done. Forgot to buying stuffing :( so she's going to be flat for a little while. This is my first(ish) attempt at a rag doll. Notice the crap sewing skills. The original drawing had a skull, but hearts are easier. Stay tuned!

26 March 2010

I've Been Inspired.

I'm going to make a rag doll for my baby cousin. It's his 1st birthday soon, and I don't want to risk getting him something and someone else getting him the same thing. The solution... I'll make my own. I'm thinking a pirate dog, obviously not as "scary" as the dolls above. I'll keep you updated with the progress. But right now I have to get ready for work. Check out the awesome dolls here.

The Lost Art of Inglourious Basterds

"Quentin Tarantino, Upper Playground and The Weinstein Company have teamed up to present, The Lost Art of Inglourious Basterds — a benefit for Haiti this Thurday, February 18th 2010 from 6:00-9:00pm in Downtown Los Angeles. A bunch of artists have created their own posters based on Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds. You can check out eleven of the thirteen posters after the jump. The event will be held at The Upper Playground Art Gallery, and all proceeds from this program will be donated to The American Red Cross to help the victims of the Haiti Earthquake. Each print will be numbered and signed by Quentin Tarantino, in a extremely limited edition of only six prints per poster."

"This creative team has assembled the following select group of accomplished artists, David Choe, Sam Flores, Estevan Oriol, Grotesk, Jeremy Fish, Patrick Martinez, Alex Pardee, Dora Drimalas, Munk One, N8 Van Dyke, Rene Alamanza, Morning Breath and Skinner Davis, to create their own poster art based off their interpretation of the Oscar Nominated film, “Inglourious Basterds” artwork."

Alex FUCKING Pardee! He's one of my favourite artists. I wish I could buy a copy of his print, but they're only available The Upper Playground Gallery in LA =( I bet you can guess which one is Alex Pardees'

I WANTS!
But I can't have, so this will probably be the last your hear about it =D You can check out bigger previews at the site were I swiped most of the post from =D http://www.slashfilm.com/2010/02/16/cool-stuff-the-lost-art-of-inglourious-basterds/

Art and Decorating and New Music

Comments are working on my blog again. WOOHOO.
I'm a slight comment whore. I love getting comments.

tonight is the first Still-Life drawing class. I'm all set. I have a awesome A3 sketchbook and some graphic pencils. I also bought some water soluble oil pastels and some paint brushes (I've never owned real paint brushes before). I don't need the and pastels and brushes for class, but I just love art supplies.

I'm seriously considering looking into becoming an interior decorator. I've started reading Snoop by Sam Gosling, a book about the science of analyzing people by the "stuff" that they have. I'm a natural snoop, I'm always looking at photos of peoples rooms and offices, and I love looking for quirky details and things in the sets of movies and tv shows. Have you seen the music video for "We Are Golden" by MIKA? that room is like heaven for me. I'd love to snoop around. =D

OMG. Just downloaded the new 30 Seconds To Mars song, "Kings And Queens". It's awesome. I also heard that Lostprophets are finally making a new album. I've also just come to terms that I have missed out on tickets to Big Day Out, so I won't be seeing Muse... yet... one day =D

I've been ♥ing some photos of rooms that I like on We♥It. Here's the link to my profile. I'm going to attempt to colour-code my books (see image below) I don't have that many books, so it might be a little hard, but I will try, and post photos when I'm done.

That's pretty much it for today. I'm so excited. My art class is in one hour, better start thinking about getting ready.

I love the painting on the door. It reminds me of Dr Seuss and a tv series that I use to watch called King. The drawings where very similar. Also check out her DeviantART gallery

I enrolled in the still life drawing class today. do you know what that meant?
I could go stationary shopping. YAY
I was so tempted to buy lots of coloured pens and markers but I already have so many that I hardly use. I'm addicted to buying Stationary.

I also went into Angus and Robertson bookstore and ordered the first 5 volumes of a manga called Priest by Min-Woo Hyung.

I hope it doesn't take long to show up. I would read it online, but I prefer to read the physical books. I must admit the only reason I even found out about it, is because it's being made into a movie (well a movie is going to be loosely based on it) and KARL URBAN is in it. =D and if you don't know already Karl Urban is only my favouritest actor in the whole universe.

Next week in photography class we are doing a sunrise photoshoot. which means..... i have to get up early! =O hehehehe I'm going to seriously be a zombie. we have to be at Emu Point before 6am. Usually at 6am i'm fast asleep in my cosy bed without a worry in the world.... well not next week. I'll be cold and grumpy.

First Attempt....

.... OMG I really shouldn't be allowed near sewing machines. I actually bent the needle, and my dad had to finish my cat plushie for me (my dad is an upholsterer).

Behold....

first attempt

he doesn't look anything like the original (from the book MEET ME AT MIKES), but he's okay, for my first attempt. And considering it only took my 2 hours =D. If I'd actually took my time (which I never ever do, so there is no point me starting now) he'd may of turned out better.

Review of MEET ME AT MIKES coming soon!

In The Shadows

sad girl, originally uploaded by johnnyb4.

When I feel sad or depressed I listen to "In The Shadows" by The Rasmus really loud. It makes me feel better.

*In The Shadows*

No sleep
No sleep until I am done with finding the answer
Won't stop
Won't stop before I find a cure for this cancer
Sometimes
I feel I going down and so disconnected
Somehow
I know that I am haunted to be wanted

I've been watching
I've been waiting
In the shadows all my time
I've been searching
I've been living
For tomorrows all my life

In the shadows

In the shadows

They say
That i must learn to kill before i can feel safe
But I
I rather kill myself then turn into their slave
Sometimes
I feel that I should go and play with the thunder
Somehow
I just don't wanna stay and wait for a wonder

I've been watching
I've been waiting
In the shadows all my time
I've been searching
I've been living
For tomorrows all my life

Lately I been walking walking in circles, watching waiting for something
Feel me touch me heal me, come take me higher

I've been watching
I've been waiting
In the shadows all my time
I've been searching
I've been living
For tomorrows all my life
I've been watching
I've been waiting
I've been searching
I've been living for tomorrows

In the shadows

In the shadows
I've been waiting

Last CD I Bought (The Labyrinth Soundtrack)

Labyrinth CD, originally uploaded by Princess Geek.

I've been looking for this CD for years... ever since I saw the movie. It was this Movie, and the music in it, that I think truly started my love affair with music and old movies. I love love love David Bowie in this movie... I love everything about this movie.
A couple of years ago I found these books in Angus & Robertson, with the most beautiful art book with drawings of faeries and goblins. I remember thinking, as I flipped through it the first time "these drawings look like something out of the Labyrinth". I later found out they were. The faeries where drawn by Brian Froud, who came up with the original visual concept for both The Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal.
Just let me tell you... I was very excited!!
