Things I Love Thursday

Sorry for the lack of posts recently. I have been very busy with work, and prepping (physically & mentally) for future surgery! Plus I haven't really felt that inspired to post. Sorry :(

But here's Things I Love Thursday... A few things around the internet that I'm loving at the moment. ENJOY!

Leatherdos Hair Clip Multi Tool - A survival tool, that you can wear everywhere...
-----
DIY Paper Floral Headpiece - very pretty, very easy, very colourful!
-----
Boom Studio Humble Bundle - pay $15 or more and get HEAPS of awesome digital comics, including Lumberjanes
-----
Midori Traveler Notebook - I've been eyeing them off for awhile, and I finally ordered one... even thought I'm suppose to be saving money for my surgery... I ordered mine from Bookbinders (Australian site) as well as some refills from etsy. I ordered a regular sized Brown Midori Traveler Notebook, and a few different refills (including Grid, Lined, Daily planner, monthly planner and a zipper pocket)
-----
Peerless Watercolour Paints - The most amazing idea... water colour paints that are simply a small piece of paper... 60 colours! You get a 2in x 2in square of each colour... and you can cut them up and create your own palette.
-----
Animagus Adventures!
Animagus Adventures! by highlyfunctioningsociopath featuring a cat throw pillow

My sister made this awesome set on polyvore! It's very cool! I love it! check out her sets!
-----
Postcrossing - send postcards to strangers all over the world, and receive postcards from all over the world... who doesn't love mail?!?!

I hope everyone is well. I'm off to Perth on the weekend for a series of doctors appointments, and hopefully to get a date for my surgery. Don't stress, it's nothing serious :) you can read all about it here!

8 Bit Heart Cross Stitch Journaling Card

I have collected a lot of hobbies over the years; jewellery making, cross-stitch, scrapbooking. As I move from one to another, it all gets stored away, with the chance it will never be used again.
Last night, while trawling the internet for scrapbooking inspiration (my "current" hobby) I came across the idea of sewing paper! What a wonderful idea! Then I found... cross-stitching on paper! WOAH! You mean I can combine two hobbies? I don't believe you, but I will give it a try.
It was successful, so I decided to do a quick how-to post.

May I present for first attempt of combining Cross-Stitch and Scrapbooking...

♥  8 Bit Heart Journaling Card! ♥
First, you need to decide what design you're going to use, you could use any cross-stitch pattern, or I googled "8 Bit Heart" and found this:
Note: The more difficult the design, the more holes you will need to punch (and trust me... punching holes is very tedious, and a little painful... (more on that later!))

Figure out the dimensions of the design. It this case, the widest part of the heart is 9 pixel, and the height is 8 pixels.

Gather your supplies!
♥  Card*, in appropriate size (depending on the size you want each pixel to be. I used Project Life 3x4in Journaling Card in Grid.
♥  Pin (for the punching. I used a needle (but it's very hard to push a needle through the paper with stabbing your fingers... OUCH!) A drawing pin, or dress makers pin will be prefect!
♥  Craft Mat (or I used my mouse pad) to put under the design while you're punching! TRUST ME! It makes it heaps easier)
♥  Needle (for the sewing. I used a Size 25 Cross-Stitch Needle)
♥  Thread... what ever colour you want! (even wool could work, but you will have to punch bigger holes, and use a bigger needle)
♥  Scissors.
*I recommend card, paper would easily rip. I also used grid pattern, but you could use plain or patterned, you just need to draw a grid pattern on the back (or glue a bit of grid paper on the back)

Once you have your supplies, draw the design on the back. Remember to reverse letters etc.
Very rough drawing... but it's all you need!

Then punch, every corner of the grid within the design. It takes awhile. DON'T USE a NEEDLE, your fingers will pinned, it it hurts! Just a pin with a nice big head, makes it heaps easier to push the pin through... and don't forget the mat underneath, the thicker, the better!
Once you have finished punching the holes (which I didn't in these photos, because I was already finished :P) It's time for the fun part!

The sewing. ♥ ♥
I didn't have any black cross-stitch thread left, so I just used thread from my sisters sewing machine (I just used two threads at once. I also only used 2 threads from the red. That's DMC 321.
You don't have to use a cross-stitch, you could do whatever you like, once you have punched the holes, anything is possible.

You could sew a simple border around a photo, or go all out and do a huge embroidery piece! The possibilities are endless.

♥  Heres a link to a website to show you how to cross-stitch... I don't really have any way of doing it, as long as the crosses are on the front... it's pretty much it! I'm not too fussed on how it looks on the other side.

The good thing about using paper, is when you're finished you can just sticky tape the back, to hold the threads in place!

♥  The finished product! ♥

Hope you enjoyed my tutorial. It's my first, but hopefully not last... Let me know what you think in the comments. Thank you for reading.

Molly Is...

... on the internet looking at scrapbooking supplies. I have discovered Project Life and have been inspired to do some more scrapbooking/journaling. I love the idea of journalling cards.
It's 1.10am and I'm still looking on the internet for more supplies! I've found heaps of free downloadable journaling cards, now I need to get a printer :)
I will keep you updated on my progress!

I Want a Vs. Journal by Knock Knock

You all know that I'm a little bit of a stationery addict.... OKAY, fine A LOT of a stationery addict.... If I could marry stationery, I would!

My biggest love is NOTEBOOKS!
Notebooks, Journals, Planners, Diaries... whatever you want to call them! I have HUNDREDS! and I always need more.

AND THEN I CAME ACROSS THIS!!!

I've been following Notebook Stories for ages... I was even featured as one of their Notebook addicts way back when, and today they posted about this....

... The Vs. Journal by Knock Knock. It's a hard covered, 256 page journal of prompts. "230 illustrated face-offs of psychological import, insightful interpretations, and plenty of writing room for contemplation to provide self-awareness that you could never achieve on your own." In other words...
write about which of the 2 you prefer... see below!
I love journal prompts and super love whole journals dedicated to prompts... and Vs. are some of the best. Plus the journal looks amazing, there are some awesome action shots on Notebook Stories.

I'm adding this to my Christmas Wishlist.... and if I don't get one... I may just have to buy one myself :D

DIARY SEASON!

It's Diary season!

I can't wait! There is nothing as good as opening a brand new diary and making the first mark... rather selfishly of myself, the very first thing I write in is "My Birthday!" :D

One of the best things about new diaries, is deciding what to buy!

Believe it or not, I think I'm over Moleskine. I've been using Moleksine Diaries for many years, but I want something more unique, more awesome :D

I have found a couple that I really like and I'm going to share them with you.

DELFONICS 2013 DIARY - A5 (15X21CM) - WEEKLY VERTICAL - POUCH - KHAKI

This, is by far, my favourite! But with a price tag of $79.95... I don't know if I can justify it! It is refillable, but I'm not known for sticking to one thing. Plus the refill that comes with it is a Vertical weekly, and there isn't enough space for my huge handwriting and random scribbles! BUT JUST LOOK AT IT!!!

The next choice is a little bit more conservative, but has the same issue of having the Vertical Weekly layout.

DELFONICS 2013 DIARY - A5 (15X21CM) - WEEKLY VERTICAL - ELASTIC - GREEN

It's a little cheaper... $59.95, but doesn't have the awesome pockets for keeping awesome things in :D But it is a pretty colour, and it looks like it feels really nice :D

Or I can just stick to what I know and geek out by just getting this:

MOLESKINE 2013 DIARY - WEEKLY NOTEBOOK - LIMITED EDITION 'STAR WARS' - LARGE (13X21CM) - BLACK - HARD COVER

You really can't go wrong with Yoda! :D I'm using the weekly notebook format now. Some weeks I find there isn't enough space, other weeks I have nothing to write. YODA!

So what do you think? I need a little bit of help with this one!!!

EDIT: I just found this one!!

DELFONICS 2013 DIARY - A6 (10X15CM) - WEEKLY NOTEBOOK - LINEN - TURQUOISE

It's smaller (only A6) but it's a Weekly Notebook layout, plus it's only $29.95 and it's a pretty colour! Don't ask me whats written on the front. It's a Japanese made diary with German written all over it! I think this one might be the best bet. NO MATTER HOW MUCH I LOVE THE FIRST ONE!

I can get a Weekly Notebook refill for the first one for $29.95, but that would take the full price of the Diary to over $100 and that is WAY too much!
