Today, in my world.

I thought I'd post another "more-personal" post. They seem to get more comments, and since I'm a little bit (okay I lie, I'm a big fat) Comment Whore.... here you go =P

Was planning on going for a bike ride today, for the first time in more than 5 years, but alas, the weather is crap and well my bike looks a little "old" and "rusty" So I put that on the back burner for now.
My internet has been shaped, which means that I can practically only view one website at a time. Which is really annoying. I won't have the internet back up to speed until the 11th April.

Tomorrow the tickets for the Tim Burton exhibition in Melbourne go on sale. I'm so excited, and now that the accommodation and flights have been paid, I feel very relaxed about the whole trip. Tahlia and I have been looking for pubs and clubs to check out while we're there and we're found one called Robot. Tahlia is extra excited because on Tuesday nights they show anime =D
I did some searching and found an article about the Tim Burton Exhibition in New York. It has pictures.... This is what Tahlia and I will be seeing. Jealous, much??? I'm hoping that they will sell Tim Burton merch, in particular The Art Of Tim Burton book, and the limited edition Tim Burton Moleskine journal. I want both, and will pay anything for them.

Took my cat, Cous Cous to the vet yesterday to get a strange large lump on the back of his neck checked out. And lets just say, it's not there anymore. He was booked in again this morning and it was removed. The vet didn't know what it was, so it was best to remove it. It ended up being a benign skin tumour. But now, poor Cous Cous is all drowsy and sore. His stitches come out in 12 days, and until them, he's stuck inside (not that it bothers him, he sleeps 21 hours a day) I was going to take photos, but who wants to see a photo of stitches??? Not me =D

Anyway, that was pretty much it. I watched The Invention of Lying, it was funny, and sad, not the best movie ever, but it was good.

Good Night

Currently Listening To:

Best soundtrack ever. Also best movie ever (well one of many =D) If you haven't seen it, you MUST! Ignore all this Jude Law Repo Man SHIT (rip off) go straight to the awesomeness that is Repo! The Genetic Opera. Starring Anthony Stewart Head (Giles from Buffy The Vampire Slayer), Alexa Vega (Juno in Spy Kids) and Paris Hilton, in a surprising okay performance, and did I mention it's a musical from the producers on SAW?!! It's excellent, check it out. It should be on DVD everywhere now.

Weight Loss Goal

If I lose 10kgs this is going to be my reward. An awesome pair of Doc Martens. I'm not sure if I should get a black pair or a red pair. I'm thinking black, because I can wear them to work. But the red ones are just so shiny and red.

They about $200, they'll be my most expensive "fashion" buy, ever!

In completely un-related news, i'm watching Glee and I love it.

The Only Reasons I'll Watch Glee

Matthew Morrison and Jane Lynch (or Spencer's mum =D)

iPad talk

So... Here it goes. You can completely ignore this post if you want, it's really just me trying to talk myself into (or out of) purchasing an iPad.

PRICE:
No word of Australian prices yet. But American prices are:

Wi-Fi only model
16GB - 499
32GB - 599
64GB - 699

Wi-Fi & 3G model
16GB - 629
32GB - 729
64GB - 829

I made an assumption that the prices could possibly go up by minimum of $70 each. And then if I choose the 3G model I will have to worry about data. And that will be the big deciding factor between whether I buy a Wi-Fi only model or a 3G model.

WHAT CAN I USE IT FOR?
the big thing is, an eBook reader. I was so close to purchasing an eBook just before the iPad was announced, and was told to wait and see what Apple announced. Not only does the iPad offer full colour, but it also has a pretty awesome looking app call iBook and even it's own eBook store... or iBookstore
also.... 4 words.... FULL COLOUR COMIC BOOKS!

and I just found this. Tokyopop might be joining the iBookstore.... MANGA on my iPad!!!!

Okay calm down Melissa. RELAX!

So there are already lots of apps available. Awesome ones, and I know there will be many more.

Other uses:
  • Movies, when I'm away from home. I can't watch movies on my iPhone because the screen is too small.
  • Blogging when away from home.
  • Sitting in bed and typing.
  • Viewing photos. the iPad supports RAW formatted photos, which is awesome. As well as offering a camera connector, so when I go away, and fill up my camera's SD card I can transfer all the photos onto my iPad and then have an empty SD card again.
  • It's small and light and will fit in my bag.

Fashion

ME (thanks to Jordie for finding, she found it from someone else)
♥ I skimp when buying: Underwear, 5 pack from Coles for $12 is completely adequate
♥ I splurge when buying: Shoes (6 pairs of $80 converses)
♥ I always break this fashion rule: something about "Blue and Green should never be seen" Every time I wear blue and green (and that's a lot) my mum always breaks out that little rhyme. Oh and odd socks... I love wearing odd socks
♥ I never break this fashion rule: Runners with anything... obviously except gym gear.
♥ Must have item for Spring 2010: I want a pair of black Doc Martens and a (real) Leather Jacket. Also a vintage brown messenger bag too (I was outbid)
♥ Favorite store: non-fashion - Angus and Robertson or any bookstore. fashion - Diva
♥ Favorite item of clothing: Band Tees & Converses
♥ Favorite stylish movie: Pirates of the Caribbean, Marie Antoinette, Repo! The Genetic Opera
♥ Guilty pleasure: Girlfriend Magazine, Nintendo DS, Perfume
♥ Describe your personal style: pretty much what ever I can buy that will fit =( but if I had a style it would be a mixture between Rock, Punk, Geek and what ever movie I'm obsessing with (ie @ the moment that would be Pirate fashion)
♥ I feel best wearing: Band Tee, Jeans and Converses
♥ Most overrated item: Heels... Like seriously people... I don't get it.
♥ Most underrated item: Simple tees.
♥ When I was in high school I wore: a uniform (thank god, I don't think I would of been able to compete if I had free-dress everyday, I practically wear the same thing everyday)
♥ Shine your own shoes? nope, I don't own shoes that need shining. I simply chuck em in the washing machine =D
♥ I always dress my best for: Me.... and Comfort.

iPad or not?

So.... Apples new iPad is out in Australia at the end of April. No word of prices. But the rumours are between $600 - $1000 (as opposed to USA $400 - $800). The big problem I'm facing is... Do I want one? At this point in time, yes I do, but I'm not entirely sure. Yes it would be awesome to have, and yes they're cheaper then the MacBook pro. But I'm not completely, entirely sure.

What do you guys think???

Bag = LOVE

I love eBay.
I just bid on this bag.
Isn't it awesome?
It's used, but vintage (from the 60s).
It looks like Dr. Spencer Reids' bag from Criminal Minds.
I hope I win.

A Little About Me - Books

I like the idea of owning books. I read, but not much, I read enough to be considered well-read. I know about books. I own many, but unfortunately most are half read, or worse, un-read.
My book collection is much like my DVD collection. I follow certain authors, but I also like some real random books. I'm not afraid to read non-fiction books about travel and culture, I have lots of film tie-in books, and lots of books based on movies and tv series. I love "non-fiction" fairy books, especially by Brian Froud. I also have my far share of movie companion and film, tv and comic book encyclopedias. As well as my biggest collection, 17 different books about The Lord of the Rings (I'm missing 2) plus the manga, but that's a whole different story.

Favourite authors: Neil Gaiman... Technically he's the only author I really follow religiously.

And for your information. I have read Twilight, just the first book, and it was rather unexciting.

Work In Progress 27.03.10

WIP 27.03.10, originally uploaded by Princess Geek.
This is Gertrude. She's only half done. Forgot to buying stuffing :( so she's going to be flat for a little while. This is my first(ish) attempt at a rag doll. Notice the crap sewing skills. The original drawing had a skull, but hearts are easier. Stay tuned!

Can Someone Buy Me These?

Aren't they amazing? They're pure love.
I'm going through a slight "pirate" phase.
But OMG I want these boots.
They're $US510 through Net-A-Porter, but they're out of stock. =(

The other alternative is the same boot, but with beige straps.
Which are just as awesome. Maybe better? What do you think? I would never buy them, I'll just find some cheap rip-off. =D
I saw these shoes yesterday, and last night I dreamed of them. That's how much love they produce.

Live Long and Prosper

Happy Birthday Leonard Nimoy

Live Long and Prosper

I've Been Inspired.

I'm going to make a rag doll for my baby cousin. It's his 1st birthday soon, and I don't want to risk getting him something and someone else getting him the same thing. The solution... I'll make my own. I'm thinking a pirate dog, obviously not as "scary" as the dolls above. I'll keep you updated with the progress. But right now I have to get ready for work. Check out the awesome dolls here.

Spike Jonze

I want to marry Spike Jonze. Not only does he make hauntingly beautiful (and completely insane) movies, he's also one of the orginal creators of Jackass (which means he'd be fun to hang around) but it was really these photos from the set of Where The Wild Things Are than got me:

I'm also in the middle of watching I'm Here. A short film by Spike Jonze about robots in love. It's typically Spike, and completely awesome. You can watch it here.

I freaking love Spike Jonze.

Who Knows?

I think I should post something personal here. I've been looking back and most of the posts have been slightly plain and normal. Just me talking about music and movies. So I'm going to post something, it's going to be a little hard, knowing that people I work with and family members read this, but hey... so what.

I don't know if anyone knows, but 70% of the time I'm unhappy. Most people don't see it. I'm very good at hiding it away. It's lack of confidence and low self-esteem. But people that know me wouldn't think so. I'm mostly happy at work, I smile and say hello to strangers if we make eye-contact, and the fact that I don't shy away from eye-contact is a big cover-up too. But get me in a night club or pub, or try and take me to a party and I'm stuffed. I'd rather be at home watching Criminal Minds and eating chocolate than trying to talk to people. And sometime mum gives me a hard time. Not meanly, but you know "you should go out more often and meet bots" hard-time. Honestly. I have no interest. But then again I do. But don't, but do. It's a vicious circle. I also think I'm picky. I'm afraid that I will fine someone prefect and then 3 weeks, 10 months, 25 years later I will realise he's just not the one. And that scares the shit out of me. I see so many people "uglier" than me with partners, fine the blokes they're with are not the best looking guys in the world, or are complete and utter trash, but at least they have someone. I don't. But the big problem is, I think I do have someone. But I'm too freaked out to even think about it. He's so nice, we have some things in common, but I just don't know. We have kinda stopped talking, we didn't fight, we just stopped talking. But our conversations are stale. There is nothing to talk about. I have nothing interesting to say. And scariest thought of all. I don't know how he feels about me. And all that.... with never meeting him. Am I stupid? The thoughts of actually meeting him scare me too.

I think I'm crazy.

Also. I'm feeling stuck. This happens about every year or 2. What am I suppose to do in my life? Or should I just stick to staying in my home town and working at the video shop my whole life? Who knows. I guess I'm the only one that can answer those questions.

Outcast Genius

Your result for The Nerd? Geek? or Dork? Test...

Outcast Genius

52 % Nerd, 70% Geek, 52% Dork
For The Record:

A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.
A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one.
A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.

You scored better than half in all three, earning you the title of: Outcast Genius.

Outcast geniuses usually are bright enough to understand what society wants of them, and they just don't care! They are highly intelligent and passionate about the things they know are *truly* important in the world. Typically, this does not include sports, cars or make-up, but it can on occassion (and if it does then they know more than all of their friends combined in that subject).

Outcast geniuses can be very lonely, due to their being outcast from most normal groups and too smart for the room among many other types of dorks and geeks, but they can also be the types to eventually rule the world, ala Bill Gates, the prototypical Outcast Genius.

Congratulations!

MOVIES I MUST SEE!

PREDATORS featuring Adrien Brody

I LOVE YOU PHILLIP MORRIS - Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor (OMG Ewan is so ADORABLE!)

That's pretty much it. I tried to find some trailers for other movies (Priest) but there is none yet.
I'm so excited about Predators. I haven't seen the others, but the others didn't have Adrien Brody in them. I'm an actor/director follower. Weird right?

Stuff

I seem to be everywhere. blogger, blogger (again), livejournal, tumblr, tumblr (again)
I wish there was an (easy) way of mushing them all together. I know it's possible, but it involves having you're own website (ie web hosting (which i know shit about)) And it will probably cost money (which I don't have because I keep buying stuff (like Criminal Minds SEASON 4, and Alice In Wonderland DS Game))
wow talk about overuse of brackets ( ) ;)

I purchased Alice in Wonderland for Nintendo DS, and it's awesome. It's very stylised, but so cute and dark and creepy. Very Tim Burton. I hard to steal MY nintendo DS back off my little sister, because she lost hers, or broke it or whatever. =D

Priest

Priest has been bumped back to 2011. :( I was really looking forward to it in 2010, but now I have to wait until 28th February 2011. But the good news is, that the reason it has been bumped back is because they're making it 3D. imagine. Karl Urban in 3D. CAN'T WAIT!

Weight Loss Journey

I've started my weight loss journey again. It's scary, and exciting. I honestly feel amazingly motivated today. Lets hope it lasts longer than a couple of days.
My starting weight is high. Higher than what I was expecting. But the last couple of days I have been binge eating =(
I've started a weight loss blog. Hopefully to inspire myself and others. Positive comments are most welcome, any negative comments and I will block you, not matter who you are! I've grown up surrounded with negative comments, so I don't need anymore. Check it out:

Feeling uninspired. So here's another WeHEARTIt picspam. I tried to use photos that I haven't used before, of course there are a few you would of seen before. Currently Listening to: The Surrender (La Resa) by Ennio Morricone, from the Inglourious Basterds soundtrack. (It's the music playing when the Bear Jew emerges from the cave)
