Geek Rant

I'm in a bad mood. So I'm going to have a little rant. You are welcome to ignore it.

On We Heart It, if you search "Geek" a majority of the images displayed are people wearing glasses. Just because you wear glasses doesn't make you a geek.
As a geek who doesn't wear glasses, it annoys me when "non-geeks" think putting on a pair of glasses automatically makes you a geek. Yes I get it, lots of geeks do need glasses, but lots don't. It's not what you wear that makes you a geek! THAT'S A STEREOTYPE!
At Supanova this year there were heaps of different sorts of geeks. Old & young, fat & skinny, Geeks dressed as their favourite Anime character or Superhero, Geeks wearing tees that show one of their geeky interests and people who weren't wearing any geek related clothing, but that doesn't make them any less geeky than the ones in cosplay.
I hate Stereotypes, but it's hard to stop it when people don't understand it. You will find very few geeks who judge others. We (yes I'm classifying myself as a Geek) accept people from all groups and fandoms. If you like Star Wars more than Star Trek, thats fine, If you don't like Doctor Who, but love Anime, that's fine! I don't care. We can still be friends. There are heaps of things that are considered "geeky" that I don't like. I don't like Zombies or Vampires, I'm not a huge fan of Babylon 5 and Farscape, but I love Star Wars and Star Trek. I love Sci-Fi and Mythology, I love Doctor Who and random english tv series' that don't make any sense. If you don't judge me, I won't judge you :)

Will You Be My Friend?

Pre-Ordered the Sims 3: Showtime Katy Perry Edition today.

Then I went online and discovered that one of the features (which you use to unlock rewards) is social... ie you need to have friends who play Sims 3 in order to get it to work. WHICH SUCKS! because I don't have any friends who play Sims 3, plus I don't have the internet capable of playing video games on it. GAH!
So I will see. Still really excited about this game :)

People Who Won't Admit When They're Wrong ie Stupid People!

Emmy did a blog post about "People Who Hate The Things You Love. With Passion" and asked what our pet peeves are, and since I'm in a complaining sort of mood.... :P

Thoughts On: "People who won't admit when they're wrong." & "Stupid People"

Working in retail, you get a lot of these people. Especially in the Audio Visual Department. Customers who see the trailer for the theatrical release of a movie and then come in and demand that you sell it to them on DVD. You calmly explain to them that it was advertising the release in the cinema, they say "It said OUT NOW!" you re-explain, only in cinemas and tell them it won't be available on DVD for approximately 6 months, they get shitty and say "well I'll go somewhere else and buy it!" They walk away, and you die a little inside because of their stupidity.

I also hate People Who Hate The Things I Love. With Passion. What the fuck people!? I don't judge the fact that you love football, or Hip/Hop music. If you're my friend, I won't judge you, I'll even learn about some things you love so we can have something in common, BUT IF YOU GIVE ME SHIT ABOUT WHAT I LIKE.... SOD OFF!!

I admit, currently, I've been giving Darian a hard time. He hasn't seen Lord Of The Rings, or Star Wars, or Star Trek, but he doesn't judge me for liking them, and I don't judge him for liking Glee, Michael Jackson and Musicals (for real!)

So completely over my emo state I had earlier this week. Sorry about that, I actually lost a follower :(

Starting to get back into it. Life is starting to sort itself out. Still have no idea when we're moving house, I have a rough idea, but if that rough idea is correct, it's in 2 weeks time, which is pretty scary. I've asked dad, but he doesn't know anything about it either.

My work situation is getting better. Hopefully soon I'll be getting 25.5 hours a week, working 2 jobs. But I'm really unsure if I actually want to leave Blockbuster, but I really don't want to work nights or weekends anymore (and they're the only times I'll be available) I don't want to have to pay to rent movies :)

I started writing lists of things to do and organise. Like change of address! What a bitch that is going to be. And the packing is still pretty much none existent! But most of the stuff that still needs to be sorted are things I use day to day, and things that will probably get thrown out.

Just watched the music video for Friday by Rebecca Black. seriously, apparently she's the next "Justin Bieber" all I can say is. SERIOUSLY CHILDREN! DON'T YOU HAVE ANY REAL MUSIC TASTE? ARE YOU TONE DEATH? Wow... Just wow. My opinion, don't waste 3 minutes and 48 seconds of your life, just don't watch it. You've probably heard it played a bazillion times on the radio by now anyway. This chick makes Justin Bieber seem not that bad (yep, that's my official statement... There is now someone worse than Justin Bieber)

PICSPAM TIME

I might go to the movies tonight. I really want to see Battle: Los Angeles. It looks pretty epic. I wish I had friends that were actually interested in Sci-Fi movies... plus would actually pay to go see a movie at the cinema. "It's so expensive... blah blah blah... bitch bitch bitch" seriously $15? You don't HAVE to buy anything from the snackbar. You pay your $15 and go and sit down... that's it. You get to see a movie in the best quality, the only way you'll ever get to see a movie in that quality again is to pay 10s of thousands of dollars to buy your own cinema setup. SERIOUSLY... $15! It's going to cost you more than that when you go to the pub instead and get so drunk you don't remember what you did. Seriously... and I'm the weird one because I want to spend "heaps" of money going to the cinema. Hmmmmmm! What ever!

Anyway. I'm going to try and have an internet free weekend. The plan is tonight fill my ipod with music and actually TURN MY COMPUTER OFF, instead of just putting it to sleep. And see how long I can last without my computer/internet. See you on Monday... or sooner, depending on how much fail I have :)

So I have to change my hair colour. It needs to be more "natural" and I'm upset about it. I REALLY LOVE THIS COLOUR, but if I want to go back to work I'll have to change it. I didn't cry at work about it, and I haven't cried about it yet, but I might. I'm upset and angry, but part of me knew that there would be a chance that I would have to change it, and I'm already kind of over the looks I got. They're not bad looks, but they're different. I bought a 8 wash natural brown to run through my hair and hopefully that will tone it town... but I'm thinking it might just be easier to just get a permanent darker red colour. I don't want to run the brown through and make it look like shit.

I tried to be myself. I tried to stop worrying about what others thought, I finally decided to stop fucking caring, and now I'm back to the beginning, it was thrown back in my face.

Whatever. I might just buy some black hair dye and go back to being a depressed little girl in a happy smiling mask. That's what they seem to want.

my thoughts on the world

so there was an earthquake in Japan, that resulted in a tsunami that pretty much destroyed the coast of Japan. The death toll is like 50 at the moment, but it is going to be a lot higher. The earthquake didn't cause much damage (unlike the Christchurch earthquake) but the Tsunami, that's another story. People are saying the world is coming to an end... all I can say is.... GET BACK UNDER YOUR ROCKS AND GET OVER IT. THE WORLD IS NOT COMING TO A END. EARTHQUAKES, FLOODS, TSUNAMIS HAPPEN ALL THE TIME, BUT THE MEDIA AND INTERNET MAKES IT SO EASY FOR NEWS TO SPREAD! Did you hear about the Earthquake that was in China the day before the Japanese one??? Not much news on that one! over 200,000 homes destroyed and over 50 people dead... but you didn't hear about it did you??? because it happened in an area of China were the government have a media blackout! WHAT ABOUT THE FACT THAT QUEENSLAND IN AUSTRALIA IS FLOODING AGAIN?? Most people outside of Australia don't know that.... and did you know that when QUEENSLAND flooded earlier this year, WESTERN AUSTRALIA was flooding too? I had to go to work with signs that said "Donate to Queensland" while my own state was flooding! I had to be the one that had to deal with the angry customers, who knew people who lost their homes.... why didn't we raise money for WA?

It makes me sick that people are taking advantage of the situation for their own gain. SERIOUSLY THE HUMAN RACE MAKES ME SICK SOMETIMES! I donate my $20, for WA floods, QLD floods, Christchurch, and then Japan. I'm happy too, it's all I can really afford to, but it will help... every little bit does. But people who set up fake charities to collect money, or even random trolls on the internet that make up untrue news stories. The PEOPLE (yes, they're people too) in Japan, have lost their homes, their jobs, THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS!!! THEIR FUCKING LIVES! and all you care about is how much attention it will get you one the internet, or how much money you can steal of hardworking people, who just want to help. DON'T DONATE TO ANYONE YOU DON'T KNOW, DO NOT GIVE MONEY WHO KNOCK AT YOUR DOOR, EVEN IF THEY HAVE RECEIPTS! JUST DON'T, if you want to donate, go into a bank that has a fund setup, go onto the website of the Red Cross, Salvos etc.

I read a post on tumblr. it was an anon message to a girl I follow, ridiculing her for not caring enough and how she should pray for the people of japan. The girl replied that she didn't pray, so the anon replied back that if she doesn't pray she'll go to hell.... WHAT THE FUCK! I'm a catholic, I pray every now and then, BUT JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE IS NOT RELIGIOUS SHOULDN'T MEAN THEY SHOULD GO TO HELL. EVERYONE IS ENTITLED TO THEIR OWN OPINIONS, I DON'T JUDGE. A GIRL AT WORK HAS DECIDED THAT SHE IS GOING TO START GOING TO CHURCH AFTER SHE TALKED TO SOMEONE, SHE'S GOING TO BE A MORMON. I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST THAT.... MOST OF MY FRIENDS ARE ATHEISTS. I try not to judge. I don't want to be judged, but I know I am. DON'T JUDGE ME, I WON'T JUDGE YOU!

What in the world?!

I'm still in shock over the Christchurch earthquake. I have some online friends there. Luckily they're all still quite vocal on Twitter, so at least they're okay, but 65 DEAD (so far) it's crazy.
Christchurch Cathedral is pretty much done for. I don't think it will be saved :(

My sister and I are planning to go to New Zealand next year, and I really wanted to see the Cathedral, but that may not happen :(

Also my Tumblr dashboard is full of posts about Libya. Stupid "if you don't reblog this, you have no souls" posts. Which, for your information I'M NOT REBLOGGING. It's not that I don't care, I do, I'm not a heartless monster, but if I let it affect me, I'll become an (even more) emotional wreck. It's sad, it's atrocious what is happening, but I don't want to get involved, I don't want to "reblog" anything, and I certainly DO HAVE A SOUL.

I'm trying to stop myself from crawling into bed and crying myself to sleep. I just feel so drained and sore and sad. I'm browsing We Heart It trying to find some inspiration, something to stop me feeling like this, but it's not working.

Not even Ewan McGregor standing in the middle of field full of Daffodils works. Doctors appointment on Monday, hopefully she will inspire me to take better care of myself.

Parental Guidence - Course Language

Quick update and then i'm off to do nothing all day (again)
just got back from the dentist. I have tooth decay, but he didn't do anything about it, he told me to make an appointment and he's going to pull the whole tooth out, but that's not until September. So I'm expected to deal with this pain until then. His solution... Pain Killers. so the next 2 months I'm going to be drugged up on Pain Killers, or in pain. WELL DONE MR. DENTIST.

Then I got home and checked the mail. I have bloody JURY DUTY! FUCK FUCK FUCK! Gah! I'm so freaking unhappy. I don't want to spend the next couple of months in pain, because of one stupid tooth, but there is nothing he could do about it. I could of had it pulled out sooner, but I'm in the process of getting braces, and if the tooth comes out too soon, my teeth will move and then the orthodontist will have to align my teeth and blah blah blah, teeth teeth teeth, blah blah blah, money money money.

And that brings me to the next thing.... do I even want to be in Perth at a concert when I'm in this much pain? Should I just not go? I really want to go, but not in this state. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!

I'm Moving Away!

Have you heard about this internet filter they are going to introduce? that will block out child porn and all the really bad stuff. well apparently it block out every site that sells games that are rated R (so bub-bye ebay and amazon and such) and it will also blocked SLASH! slash is a type of fanfiction. It's explicit but fun =D and it's usually written around 2 male characters. It's my guilty pleasure, don't judge me. BUT THEY ARE GOING TO BLOCK IT! and apparently they're going to start scanning EVERY SINGLE email sent and received in Australia. AUSTRALIA is going to turn into BIG BROTHER.

5/365 + Babies + Rants

One of the baby quails died last night. =( he was the same one that almost drowned the first night and was found outside the cage the night after, both times he had to be saved using a hair dryer. But this time we weren't there with the hair dryer to save him. =(

Now we have 7 baby Quails. And here are some photos...

This is Butterball, the only one with a name so far, because he's the only one that we can tell apart. Because he's a lighter colour to the others.

$US145 POSTAGE for the Art of Tim Burton book! $145!!! and thats just the postage!!! the book is $US60 (which is acceptable for what you get) BUT NOT WITH $145 FUCKING POSTAGE!!!

I wrote a very heated email to the company. Then at the end asked nicely if the book would be available in Australia in the future.
