Dream Kitchen.

This post is inspired by and dedicated to
my mum, who taught me how to cook
and
my auntie Jo, who loves interior design (read her blog)
they both inspire and influence my sense of style.

I'm obsessed with baking at the moment.
Thanks to The Great British Bake Off!

I've been thinking about having my own kitchen.
I'm jealous, because my little sister is so close to having her own house.
and her own kitchen..... not that her partner will let her in it!

So here is some inspiration for my DREAM KITCHEN.

First things first!
I need to have 2 things.
Even if I have a crappy kitchen, if I have these 2 items
my dream kitchen is complete.

they are....

A Kitchen Aid Mixer!

I just haven't decided what colour!
I'm thinking the turquoise one!
But I don't have $700 to spend on a mixer!

the second essential dream kitchen item is...

a Smeg fridge!

again!
I don't know what colour!
:)

I know there are cheaper alternatives :)

White rectangular tiles.
I believe they're called "Subway Tiles"
But I may be wrong :D

as well as exposed brick!!!

I ove the mix of modern white and stainless steel with organic brick and wood.

I also want heaps of room for all my cookbooks!

I love the green cabinets in this kitchen. But I would prefer white
and add heaps of colourful accessories!
Plus a HUGE wide Oven!!!!

and plants. Lots of plants.
Herbs growing to cans and recycled containers.

Lots of yummy herbs and succulents!

THE PANTRY!

I would love a huge walk in pantry! With shelves from floor to ceiling
stacked with glass containers holding all the ingredients!

This picture is my favourite. I looks like they have utilised hallway space.
It's an artwork in it's self.
Guest can look at the colours and pick up the jars.

I don't believe in hiding away things.
Especially if they can be displayed beautifully!

Why send time going through cabinets and cupboards looking for
pots and pans and utensils, when you can use them
as a feature.
After all... it's a kitchen, and that's what kitchens are for!

One day.
I will have my dream kitchen.
I don't exactly know what it will look like.
I probably won't get everything I want!

As long as I have a space to bake and cook.

NaBloPoMo - Did you say interior design?

urm.... No!

When was the first time that you realized that your home was not like other people’s homes?

I saw this prompt before I start work and all I could think was "Interior Design Post"

My friends always loved my house. It wasn't like there 4x1 single storey brick homes. We had a 2 storey wooden house, with high ceilings and large rooms. We also had a large block with trees and lots of grass. We used to make tree-houses in the 100 year old Mulberry Tree we had in the yard, we'd come up to the house at the end of the day covered it red mulberry stains. I still miss that house. It hasn't even been a year since we moved out, and it's still a bit of a raw subject.

The house I live in now is nice. It's a 4x1 single storey brick house :) but my family is here, and that's what really matters.

But in saying that, I still one day want my own house. The idea of renting scares me, I would much rather own my own house, but the idea of mortgage repayments is scary too. I'm not overly fussed about the type of house, as long as I can make it my own. I would prefer an older weatherboard house with high ceilings, or even an old warehouse space. Everything can be in the same room (well except the bathroom), it can be small and pokey, I really don't care, as long as I can paint when I feel like, hammer as many nails into the walls and not have to worry about spilling stuff on the carpet.

I would love to have a floor to ceiling library so I can but all my books, DVDs and comic book collection.

Maybe an arcade game/pinball machine (or two)

A garage door to paint!

Enough room for a comfy bed

A brightly coloured fridge covered in awesome pictures

A huge sofa covered in cushions

Enough room in the garden for a koi pond. I will probably have a hobbit garden (ie one that never gets cared for and just grows crazy)

In my search for photos for my dream house, I re-found these photos. How awesome is this "apartment"?
I want to live there!

TRIBBLES

I was going to withdraw from my interior design course today. I had a sad, and am doubting myself, whether I'll be able to finish, but then I decided "NO I CAN DO IT!" So I'm going to get over myself and do some work this weekend. I have 5 days off. I was going to go to perth, but I'm not anymore, so I'm just going to stay at home, spread myself out on the kitchen table and do some serious work.

I ordered a Tribble from Think Geek yesterday. For all those that do not know what a Tribble is... shame on you! Tribbles are fictional animals (which are neither male nor female) in the Star Trek universe who first appeared in the episode titled "The Trouble With Tribbles". They are depicted as small, soft, and gentle, and as producing a soothing purring sound.
I ordered a small one (I think the same size as the one in Kirks' hand above) It will come in a random shade of brown, grey or black... I hope I get a grey one. If you want to spend un-necassary money... go to Think Geek. DO IT! I dare you! But don't say I didn't warn you. :P

I'm so close to having a full time job it's not funny. I'm not allowed to say anything about it, because it's a secret, and the job is being created JUST FOR ME! I'm so excited, it's such an interesting area to work. I really hope it all works out. WISH ME LUCK.

That's all for today. Going to watch the Academy Awards tonight, even though I know who wins. I'm still going to watch it. :D

New Room IDEAS

I thought cleaning my room was hard... packing is a whole other ball game. It's crazy. Usually I'd just push everything into a box and stick it in the corner, but now I actually have to sort it (well I don't, but I'm trying to cull everything so it's better that I cull... May try and sell some on eBay)

My room is a mess... don't believe me, see for youself...

I hate it. I've always been slightly messy, but it was organised chaos... this is just crazy. I don't know how much to cull, I don't know how much room I will have in my new room. I've been trolling IKEA and Ikeahackers for ideas... I'm thinking (if space permits) on doing this...
... buying a collecting of Billy bookshelves (and Benno DVD towers) and then buying a new bed and pushing it up against it. I will probably push my bed against the wall too (because only one person sleeps in my bed :D) I'm also really liking this desk.
I'm going to have everything in white. I already have white wall shelves, and some steel shelves. I'm donating my beech shelves to the new house, to be used where ever, I'm not sure about my glass desk, and the rest of the icky beech furniture I have... I'm sure they'll find a home. I would love one of THESE for my tv (but my TV is huge and won't fit... plus I think I'm going to get rid of it when I get my iMac.

And I'm thinking GREEN walls... or Turquoise. But all that depends on the size of the room I end up... and if I have enough money :)

HERE'S SOME MORE IDEAS I LOVE.

Will have to just be patient and see what happens in the next couple of weeks. I'm not sure if I mentioned it, but we're stuck here until April... but hopefully we can find a house before then, and then moving can be done over a week instead of a weekend. FIRST HOPE is that dad makes enough money to get a loan... if not all this goes out the window... that's my biggest fear at the moment... all I can do is pray :)
